The Addis Collective is a Santa Barbara based band focusing on 60s & 70s era Ethiopian Jazz and Afrobeat. Their music is a mix of groove, hypnotic horn lines, and Jazz improvisation. The unique pentatonic modes (Qenēts) of this region of Africa create a dreamlike mood, with sublime, spirited and sometimes melancholic melodies. The set will include many classics from the catalog of Mulatu Astatke, the godfather of Ethio-jazz.
